I’m Back!

I apologize for the long silence. The results of the 2024 election depressed me so deeply that I’ve had a hard time writing, reading, creating in so many ways. As I said in my last post, I’ve been doing some indoor gardening, and I’ve also been having some fun with dehydrating, cheese making, baking, sprouting–when the world gets sad and depressing, the sad and depressed make food. Watching my country spiral toward chaos is being hard to stomach. Choosing a path of resistance is taking time to sort out. I’ll get there and keep you posted.

I am on Blue Sky now (@marilynjevans.bsky.social) for those interested, but am maintaining my Facebook and X accounts. I have left X for the most part and am now following the cats  I used to follow there on Blue Sky–if I can find them. I pretty much only ever followed cats on the social media site formerly know as Twitter.

So, Marilyn, you may well ask, what ARE you doing with yourself in the realm of literature? I’ve been editing more space opera by my friend Dennis Young, one down and more to come in his latest collection of novellas. That’s always a fun time. And I’m expecting a new book for editing by Izaak (I.A. Kimsey), a sequel to his first book, Identity. My friend with the proposed autobiography seems to be having a hard time getting started. It’s about time I poked her a little and see if she squeaks.

I still can’t seem to be able to write fiction these days. I’m sure that will come back eventually. I am writing nonfiction–back to my roots in a way. And I’m having some fun teaching again. As for the fiber arts, that has been confined to mending.

I have sent two novels out to publishers, but have yet to hear back, but those are mostly finished works. I’ve been sending some short stories with mixed results. I suppose it’s time to get back to being some kind of creative. Otherwise, whatever talent I may have had may wither and die. Perhaps it’s time to dust off some of my old manuscripts and get back to it. But for now, I’m going to go make some yogurt and possibly more yeast bread. Microorganisms seldom disappoint me.
